The partitioned attic floor of the apartment building was opened up and extended with a terrace offering views on the urban landscape. Instead of being hidden away, the various air shafts and chimneys of the apartments on the lower levels were used to create the distinct image of the space. Strategically placed skylights let the light penetrate and reach the owner’s plant collection. The skylights also ensure an alternating game of light and shadow throughout theday.
De opgedeelde dakzolder van het appartementsgebouw wordt opengemaakt en krijgt een terras en uitbreiding met zicht op het stedelijke landschap. De vele kokers en schoorstenen van de ondergelegen appartementen worden niet verstopt, maar bepalen het beeld van de ruimte. Doordachte inplanting van dakramen laat het licht binnen dwarrelen tot bij de plantenverzameling van de bewoner en zorgen voor een wisselend spel van licht en schaduw doorheen de dag.
Le grenier sous le toit, divisé en compartiments, de l’immeuble d’appartements a été ouvert avec une terrasse offrant une vue sur le paysage urbain. Les nombreux puits d’air et cheminées des appartements en contrebas ne sont pas cachés, mais créent l’image distincte de l’espace. L’implantation stratégique des puits de lumière laisse tourbillonner la lumière pour se poser sur la collection des plantes de l’habitant et offre un jeu alterné d’ombre et de lumière tout au long de la journée.
